When Custody Issues Disrupt One’s Career

Disputes over child custody can have a major impact on a parent’s life. Custody can be one of the most upsetting and concerning facets of the divorce process, especially since many parents are so worried about how their kids will be affected by the divorce. In recent decades, divorce has become increasingly common, and many parents have had to deal with challenges related to child custody. These hurdles can carry over into many other aspects of a parent’s life also, such as having a negative impact on their job performance and their overall career.

There are many ways that a dispute centered around the custody of a child can translate into problems in the workplace. For example, a highly contentious dispute could make a parent struggle with sleep, which could make them tired and adversely affect their ability to do their job well. A dispute over child custody may also cause a parent to become extremely stressed out, and stress can be counterproductive when it comes to one’s work performance. In fact, someone may even decide to push off starting a new job or moving forward in their career because of the custody-related hurdles they are facing.

Unfortunately, when someone’s career is negatively affected by a custody dispute, this can result in other serious problems in their lives, such as financial hardship. Our law office is very familiar with the different issues that people need to consider when they are approaching a custody dispute and we know how intense and emotional the whole process can be. Preparation can help mitigate some of these concerns.
